Prayers of Intercession
During this season of Advent, we pray with hope and expectation that our Lord God will come to the aid of all who suffer persecution for their faith, and that we will be active servants in the Lord's saving work.
During the season of Christmas we remember that the Christ-child was born into a world of struggle and violence, into a vulnerable family coping with many uncertainties, and into a religious community under pressure and persuection. As we ponder this mystery, let us hold in our hearts and prayer all who are walking this path amidst the violence and uncertainties of our own time. |
Lent 2017 Prayer Guide
Download the daily prayer guide from https://www.opendoorsusa.org/lent/ Act now for persecuted Christians by ensuring that your regular Sunday liturgies include them in prayer. A prayer needn't be long or elaborate - just say it plainly. Try these: We unite our hearts and voices with the cries of our persecuted brothers and sisters, let us pray to the Lord. We pray for our Christian brothers and sisters who are persecuted for their faith in many parts of the world today, that they may be encouraged through our prayers and material support. We ask the Lord to guide our thoughts and actions in support of Christians displaced by the world's wars and conflicts. Conscious of Christian families torn apart by violence directed at their ethnicity or religious identity, we unite our prayers with theirs this day. We ask for awareness and discernment as to how our own community can best aid and serve the persecuted Churches. We pray for Christian families in Australia with relatives in war-ravaged regions of the globe. May we support them with our friendship and prayers at this difficult time. We remember our suffering brothers and sisters, and we place our hope in the Lord. In these times of trial for the persecuted Churches, we maintain our steadfast hope in the God of Life, in the Lord who saves. Order prayer cards from ACN Request a Prayer Card from Aid to the Church In Need (ACN), a Catholic organisation which provides an enormous amount of material and spiritual support to Christians suffering for their faith. Design your own prayer card A tasteful design, a simple prayer, and a willing person with office skills is all you need to develop a prayer card suitable for your local community. Perhaps you have a local printer or graphic designer who would freely contribute their skills to a worthy cause. |
